Admissions to the Main School
In Northamptonshire children have the opportunity to start school in the September following their fourth birthday. All children must be four on or before 31st August. To apply for a place at The Grange School visit Admissions to Schools in Northamptonshire
Over Subscription Criteria for The Grange School, Daventry
Places will be allocated to pupils who have a statement of SEN that names the school as an appropriate provision. When there are more applications for places than there are places available, priority will be given in the following order
- Children in public care or previously in public care
- Children with specific medical and social needs, supported by written evidence from an appropriate professional person
- Pupils who live in the linked areas of Drayton or Middlemore
- Pupils with an older brother or sister continuing at the school at the time of admission of the younger child
- Pupils who live closer to the school than any other school
- Other pupils
If the admission number is exceeded within the criterion (3) or (4) then priority will be given to those who live furthest from their nearest alternative school. If the admission number is exceeded within any other criterion then priority will be given to those who live closest to the school.

At The Grange School our main aim is to ensure that all the children receive an excellent education in English and Maths and they have secured the skills and knowledge that they will need for the next stage of their education. Our Key Skills Curriculum outlines a number of basic skills that our children are expected to achieve by the end of each year at school. We call these our 'Non-Negotiables or NN' and each year group has its own set of guides, available in the side bar. However, we also feel strongly that the children also need to have a wide and varied curriculum to ensure that they are well equipped for the future ahead of them in a rapidly changing world. Early Years Reading & Phonics
In the early years of the children's education we follow the Letters and Sounds approach to teaching. A document which describes these principles and practices is available in the side bar of the page. We also provide online help for parents who wish to support their children's learning at home. This is to be found under the "Parents" link on the main menu.
At The Grange School we are committed to equipping children with the necessary IT and computing skills needed for life in a technological rich society. We use IT to enhance and extend children's learning across the whole curriculum. We encourage and support children to be independent users of IT, extending learning opportunities outside of lesson time. We also teach the children a wide range of computing skills, following the National Curriculum for Computing.
We also believe that sport is essential for all children and they should have the opportunity to take part in competitive team games. We have very successful soccer, tennis, netball, athletics and cross country teams.
The Grange School is especially strong in the arts, particularly visual arts, drama and dance. We believe that the arts not only give the children a cultural dimension but also impact on the basic curriculum, helping to develop the academic achievements of all pupils. The arts are at the heart of, and are central to, our curriculum.
Key Skills Curriculum
These include skills in phonics, spelling, handwriting, punctuation and number. Most of the homework our children receive is based on the Key Skills Curriculum. As part of their homework, each day children are expected to spend time reading with an adult, practicing times tables and learning their weekly spellings. Further guidance on the duration of these activities and any additional homework will be given to each year group by their class teacher.

Our school has always performed above National Standards with progress significantly above national expectations. Our 2016 outcomes for KS1 and KS2 reflect the change in the tests and the higher expectations.
We predict that our 2017 results will be inline with previous attainment and progress.

Sports Premium Funding
PE and sport are a vital part of life at The Grange School. We firmly believe that physical education and sporting competition is an integral contribution to a child's development and well-being, embedding within them values such as fairness and respect.
