What a fabulous start to the new school year!

It's certainly been a busy, warm and sunny start to the new school year.

We have welcomed new staff and children to our happy school and everyone is settled into their new classes. Teachers are working in new teams and children have met up with existing friends, and are making new friends in their new year groups. Children are all working hard and seem to be enjoying their new themes.

Our new Celebration Assemblies have begun on Friday mornings and have been enjoyed by Y5 & 6 parents so far. It was great to see so many parents joining us in celebrating the children's work and we look forward to welcoming parents from other year groups over the coming weeks. Please check the Year Planner and The Grange Gazette for more details.

After the success of Maths Fest last year, we are again running these sessions for children and parents this year. This year's focus will be on supporting children's maths in real-life situations - shopping, cooking etc. Y6 parents have already attended their session and found it useful. Again, please check the Year planner or newsletter for more details.

We've already held two 'Welcome Back' Parents Evenings', which were very successful. Thank you for supporting your child by attending. You have so much useful information to pass onto your child's new teacher and we appreciate your support. The teachers all enjoyed meeting you and look forward to working together in partnership with you, throughout the coming year. If you were unable to make this appointment, your child's teacher will be in touch to organise a mutually convenient time to meet.

We also held two new style Book Fairs. We have decided to run these ourselves, without using a third party provider, in order to provide you with high-quality books at very reasonable prices. The feedback from these events was fantastically positive and it was wonderful to see so many children so excited at the choice of books we had to offer. Many of you have asked us to hold Book Fairs more regularly and we are happy to do so to promote children's reading. The next Book Fair, which will be for parents only, will take place on Open Morning on 12/10/16. Why not come along and buy some Christmas presents for your child? You also asked us to hold another Book Fair for children before Christmas and so, we're looking for a date for this.

It's hard to believe that we're thinking about Christmas while the weather is still so beautiful but, as we move into the final week of September, we get a reminder of how quickly each school term passes. Please help your child to make the most of every minute of this school year by encouraging them to read at home every day and to complete their weekly homework tasks.
