Year 2 Updates!

Year 2 have had a very busy term. We began our Wish You Were Here theme with the trip to Sheringham. Despite the cold weather, we all had a fantastic time, firstly at Wimpole Hall farm where the children engaged with a variety of animals and enjoying the play area before continuing the journey to Sheringham. The highlight of the visit was the time spent on the beach, it was lovely to see the children exploring and using their imaginations and interacting so well with one another. We were so proud of the children particularly when we received compliments from passers by and the staff  and other guests at the Hostel regarding the children’s good behaviour and politeness.

The children that were unable to come to Sheringham enjoyed time at school doing a variety of activities – they were particularly keen to tell us all about making bug hotels and icing biscuits!

The children have completed the end of Key Stage tests this week. They have all worked well and tried their best; once again we are very proud of the sensible way in which they have approached this work.

Next week we will be learning about seaside holidays in the past and we are especially looking forward to our Wow day on Tuesday when the children will design and make their own ice-cream sundaes and watch a Punch-and-Judy show.

This term we have been learning about Dinosaurs, it is hard to imagine that they lived so many millions of years ago. We have learned lots of facts and had great fun out on the playground using trundle wheels and metre sticks to measure the size of a Stegosaurus, a Triceratops and a Tyrannosaurus Rex.  We are learning about palaeontologists and how the fossils and skeletons they find help us to learn even more about dinosaurs.

We have written stories on a dinosaur theme and we are looking forward to designing and making a dinosaur toy!

In Science we have been learning about the things we need to keep us alive and about the habitats of different creatures.

In RE we have been finding out about the Jewish faith and we enjoyed learning about Shabbat  with Jo Elijah.
