Key Information for Each Year Group
We have listed the key information and dates to help you with the organisation of the school week at home.
Reception - PE days are Monday and Wednesday. Homework will be sent out on a Friday and is due in on a Wednesday. Could children please have a suitable coat and wellies in school every day as we access the outside area in all weathers!
Year 1 - PE Kit should be in school from Monday through to Friday please. The children have reading and sight vocabulary work for homework each day. Children are expected to read 5 times a week and if you need your child to change their book, please leave in the baskets provided in each classroom, together with their logs in the morning. A member of staff will change them before the end of the school day. If your child reads from the library selection, they will be able to change their own book during the school day. Children will also be given spellings to learn and some homework each week to consolidate key skills. You are also welcome to visit the library with your child from 3:15 to 3:30pm.
Year 2 - Please ensure that your child has their (indoor and outdoor) PE kit in school at all times as we may have PE lessons at any time. Homework will be set on a Friday to be completed by the following Friday. Spelling tests and times tables tests will also be on a Friday. In addition to this, there will be some English and Maths homework to complete. Please read with your child every day or let them read silently and then talk to them about their reading. You are also welcome to visit the library with your child from 3:15 to 3:30pm.
Year 4 - P.E. Kit should be in school from Monday through to Friday please. Spellings are given out on Friday, and a test will take place the following Friday. MyMaths homework is available online at any time. Reading should at least 5 times a week with an adult - this could be reading aloud or reading silently and then talking about the text. Reading at the weekend will be rewarded with Dojos. You are also welcome to visit the library with your child from 3:15 to 3:30pm. Please practise times tables at least 5 times per week for a weekly times table test. Reading, spellings and times tables are the daily homework, with English and Maths homework weekly.
Year 6 - The children will have weekly homework set from their SATs revision guides and these need to be brought into school every Friday please. MyMaths and Grammarbug are always available to be completed online for additional support. If access to a computer is tricky, the children are able to use the ICT suite at lunchtime every day. The children need to continue with their daily reading (recorded in their learning logs) and times tables practice and they will be completing accelerated reader quizzes in school when they finish each book. Please come to school prepared with a black pen and pencil, and ensure your P.E. kit is in school all week. You are also welcome to visit the library with your child from 3:15 to 3:30pm.
