Assembly Themes for 2019 - 2020

The most recent legislation on assembly states that  “…each pupil in attendance at a community, foundation or voluntary school shall on each school day take part in an act of collective worship.” The legislation also stipulates that this should be broadly Christian in nature. At The Grange School, we use our assembly time to learn about the values that underpin both Christianity, and other world religions. We believe it is important to recognise that, in a multi-cultural society, a range of religious views co-exist. We teach our children about a range of religions and religious views, whilst valuing the common characteristics of these.
Our assembly themes allow children to learn more about the world, to consider the opinions and beliefs of others and to demonstrate the values and beliefs that are shared across the world. We also aim to inspire children, raise their aspirations and provide them with opportunities for awe and wonder.
Our themes for 2019 - 2020 are:

- School Values (Be Fair, Be Connected, Be Ambitious, Be Inspired & Inspiring)
- Dream   Believe   Achieve (linked to our school value of Be Ambitious)
- British Values (Democracy, Mutual Tolerance & Respect, Individual Liberty, The Rule of Law)
- Stories from World Religions
- Social & Emotional Aspects of Learning (SEAL)
- Religious Festivals
- National & International Celebrations
- Inspirational Role Models
