Our Uniform

It is our school policy that all pupils wear school uniform when attending school or when participating in a school organised event outside normal hours.

Aims and Objectives

Our policy for school uniform is based on the notion that school uniform

  • Promotes a sense of pride in the school
  • Engenders a sense of community and belonging towards the school
  • Is practical and smart
  • Makes pupils feel equal to their peers in terms of appearance
  • Is regarded as suitable wear for school and is considered by parents as good value for money
  • Is designed with health and safety in mind

The Role of Parents

We ask parents who send their children to our school to support the school uniform policy. It is the responsibility of parents to ensure that their child has the correct uniform and that it is clean and in good repair. It is parents responsibility to ensure that all items of school uniform are clearly named.

The Grange School Uniform policy is set out below

Boys - Winter

  • Dark grey or black school trousers
  • White polo shirt 
  • School sweatshirt / Dark blue cardigan
  • Black or grey socks
  • Black shoes 

Boys - Summer

In addition to the above, boys may wear the following during the summer months:

  • Dark grey/black shorts (not sports shorts)
  • Navy blue school cap 

Girls - Winter

  • Dark grey/black knee length skirt or pinafore dress
  • Dark grey/black ankle length trousers
  • White school polo shirt 
  • School sweatshirt / Dark blue cardigan
  • Black, grey or navy tights
  • White socks
  • Black low heeled shoes 

Girls - Summer

  • Blue and white gingham or striped school dress
  • Navy blue school cap 

Physical Education (PE)

  • Plain black/dark blue shorts
  • White school PE T-shirt or plain white T-shirt
    all in a named PE bag please

Uniform Rules
Children may wear:

  1. Sensible inexpensive wristwatches, but should be marked with owners name. The pupil must be responsible for their watch as the school is not responsible for damage or loss of personal property.

Children should NOT wear:

  1. Jewellery should not be worn. Metal earrings are not permitted for safety reasons. Children may wear plastic retainers. Should children attend school displaying metal piercings, the school will engage in a conversation with parents about this.
  2. Makeup, including nail varnish.
  3. Trainers (except during PE/games lessons). The only exception to this is on medical grounds and a letter, containing full details, should be sent to the school please.
  4. Sports branded clothing during the normal school day.
  5. High heeled shoes on health and safety grounds.
  6. Extreme hair cuts. 
  7. Tattoos of any description.

Branded waterproof jackets (optional) are also available.
